Milan 2018 and Frida Kahlo
By the end of the year coming soon, the time for evaluating and summing up what 2018 has taken along is inevitably here.
If one thinks of the characters who have been mostly celebrated in Milan in 2018, for example, Mexican artist Frida Kahlo undoubtedly stands out.
The beginning of the events dedicated to her was announced by the exhibition of her works at the Mudec (Museum of Cultures of Milan), which ended in June.
In the wake of this exhibition hosting all the works of the Mexican artist shown at the Museo Dolores Olmedo in Mexico City and at the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection, various events and happenings took place around the city.
Perhaps, the most spectacular event that mainly caught the imagination of those who were present, was the screening of giant slides showing the artist’s paintings on the building facades in Milan suburbs.
In the background, Mexican theme music, plays of lights and shadows as well as related entertainment occasions like buffets and social gatherings did the rest.
The tribute to the great Mexican artist had no equal in the city’s artistic and cultural life, thus featuring 2018 in Milan.
Many people hope that after the great celebration of Frida Kahlo, whose life was marked by unfortunate events along with great creativity, other beloved and popular artists will be celebrated with equally spectacular events in the near future.
