Nate nella seconda metà dell’800 per inviare brevi messaggi ed evolutesi come souvenir di viaggi, gite ed eventi le cartoline postali hanno acquisito nel tempo anche valore artistico. Questo, sostanzialmente, è il messaggio che vuole lanciare la mostra della cartolina postale che si tiene in Australia dal 04/02/12 al 17/03/12 nella città di St Kilda. Linden Postcard Show è un’iniziativa molto popolare nel continente rosso che attira ogni anno migliaia di visitatori e numerosi partecipanti da tutta l’Australia.

La Galleria di Arte Contemporanea Linden che espone le piccole opere d’arte dal formato massimo di 30 x 30 x 30 consente agli espositori, per i quali sono in palio dei premi, di vendere le loro creazioni che, considerando le misure ridotte, possono essere acquistate a prezzi contenuti. La cartolina postale rappresenta anche una risorsa per la ricerca storica ed antropologica.

E’ il caso della vasta produzione di immagini realizzata in oltre trent’anni di lavoro dai fratelli Sarrafian che iniziarono intorno al 1895 ad affermarsi come fotografi, dedicandosi poi anche alla produzione di cartoline postali. Di origine armena, i tre fratelli Sarrafian si stabilirono a Beirut per sfuggire alle persecuzioni e quì, con la loro attività di fotografi oltre che di sostegno alla comunità armena di Beirut e del Libano, raggiunsero grande notorietà. Famosi per aver riprodotto su cartolina scorci di paesi come il Libano, la Siria e il vicino Medio Oriente in generale, hanno creato un inestimabile archivio storico, lasciando ai posteri testimonianze archeologiche, paesaggistiche e culturali.

La mail art, di cui Linden Postcard Show ne offre uno spaccato ha visto gli albori negli anni ’20 con i movimenti del futurismo e del dadaismo, affermandosi tra gli anni ’50 e ’90. Oggi, accanto alle opere artistiche da inviare per posta si creano anche buste personalizzate da scambiare gratuitamente, sulle quali timbri e francobolli ne completano l’originalità.L’avvento di internet e delle nuove tecnologie digitali ha favorito esponenzialmente la realizzazione di cartoline postali auto-prodotte che un tempo potevano essere personalizzate solo con disegni fatti a mano, eseguiti in molti casi dallo stesso mittente.

It was the second half of the 19^th century when the first postcards appeared as a mailing device to send brief messages. Soon after. they became events and travel  mementoes, but later on they acquired artistic value, too. After all, the artistic aspect of postcards is the basic message of the Linden Postcard Show which will take place this year from Feb. 4^th to March 17^th  in St. Kilda. The Linden Postcard Show has been a very popular event in Australia since 1991, attracting thousands of visitors together with numerous exhibitors from every part of the Red Continent. Artists create their own postcards and show them at the Linden Gallery of Contemporary Art, whose prizes  are awarded to the most original works. Due to their small dimensions, not exceeding 30 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm, the art-works can be bought at an unexcessive price.

Postcards can be appraised not only for their artistic value, but also for their historic importance that makes them a useful  means of research  for historians and anthropologists. That’s the case of the Sarrafian brothers who produced a great number of postcards over a period of thirty years. The three brothers were of Armenian origin and undertook the activity of photographers  around 1895. Once they settled in Beirut to escape persecution, they became very popular for their passion for photography and support  to the Armenian community, as well.

Lebanon, Syria and the Near East in general were the subjects of their photos and postcards, leaving an extraordinary witness of  archeological, cultural and landscape  images to posterity. Mail art, of which the Linden Postcard Show offers a cross section firstly appeared in the 1920s within Futurism and Dadaism movements.

The production of mail art-works increased between the 1950s and 1990s and took advantage afterwards of the new Internet era and modern digital technologies. Today, along with art-works, original envelopes with similar stamps contribute to the success of a unique creation to be sent by mail and exchanged free with other mail artists. 

Personalized postcards, once enriched with hand drawings by the sender himself, have now increased esponentially to a wide variety of subjects and purposes.

Linden Postcard Show 2012 und die vielseitigen Postkarten

Es war die zweite Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts, als die ersten Postkarten erschienen. Zuerst wurden sie als Mittel geschaffen, um kurze Texte zu senden. Danach wurden sie  als Ereignis-und Reiseandenken  verwendet. Nicht nur für ihren Erinnerungswert sondern auch für den künstlichen Aspekt  betracht man heute die Postkarten.

Eigentlich ist die Kunstseite der Postkarten  die Botschaft der Linden Postcard Show, die dieses Jahr vom 4. Februar  bis zum 17. März in St. Kilda stattfindet.

Seit 1991 ist die Linden Postcard Show ein sehr berühmtes Ereigniss in Australien, das tausende Besucher sowie viele Aussteller aus dem ganzen roten Kontinent lockt.Die Künstler schaffen ihre eigenen Postkarten, die mit einem Preis ausgezeichnet werden können, und sie stellen sie in der Linden Gallery of Contemporary Art aus. Aufgrund des kleinen Formats , das nicht über 30 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm sein soll, können die Besucher die künstlichen Postkarten  zum guten Preis kaufen.

Nicht nur wegen des künstlichen Wertes, sondern auch für die historische Wertigkeit kõnnen die Postkarten geschätzt werden, wie es mit den Sarrafian Brüdern passierte.  Die drei Brüder waren aus Armenien und begannen ihre Tätigkeit als Photographen um 1895. Nachdem sie nach Beirut übersiedelten, um Verfolgungen  zu entfliehen, wurden sie aufgrund ihrer Leidenschaft für Photographie  und die Unterstützung  der armenischen  Gemeinde in Beirut und Libanon sehr berühmt.

Libanon, Syrien und der Nahe Osten waren die Themen der zahlreichen Fotos und Postkarten der Sarrafian Brüder, die der Nachwelt sowie Historikern und Anthropologen historische, kulturelle und landwirtschaftliche Abbildungen übergaben.

Die Postkust, die die Linden Postcard Show fördert, machte die ersten Schritten im Bereich des Futurismus und Dadaismus in den zwanziger Jahren. Die Produktion von künstlichen Postkarten entwickelte sich danach zwischen den fünfziger  und neunziger  Jahren und hat aus dem neuen Internetzeitalter und  modernen digitalischen Technologien Vorteil gezogen.

Neben künstlichen Postkarten schafft man auch Umschläge mit ähnlichen Briefmarken, die die Postkünstler miteinander frei vertauschen. Im Vergleich zu einer Zeit, als die künstlichen Postkarten nur mit dem Zeichnen des Absenders personalisiert wurden, vermehren sich die Möglichkeiten heutzutage exponential , um einzigartigen Postkarten  mit einer Menge Themen und Zwecke zu schaffen.

365 giorni all’anno la Norvegia può essere scoperta a bordo di navi che percorrono la costa atlantica, partendo da Bergen fino a raggiungere Kirkenes, a pochi km dal confine con la Russia. Lungo la rotta del “Postale dei Fiordi” come viene comunemente chiamato il tragitto che ha al suo attivo oltre un secolo di storia, le navi attraccano in 34 porti, consentendo visite più o meno brevi a località famose e piccoli villaggi di pescatori, alcune delle quali organizzate dalla stessa compagnia di navigazione.

Si può sbarcare in città come Alesund, in stile Art Nouveau, Trondheim sulle sponde dell’omonimo fiordo, con le caratteristiche case che si affacciano sul fiume Nidelva oppure costeggiare le isole Lofoten e visitare la città artica di  Tromsø, nota come la “Parigi del Nord”, per il vivace stile di vita e la “Porta dell’Artico“, essendo il punto di partenza per le spedizioni al Polo Nord.

Il servizio di collegamento è effettuato da navi moderne e tradizionali, su cui è possibile imbarcare il proprio mezzo e dura 6 giorni per la sola andata, 11 giorni con andata e ritorno. Fare una crociera sulla costa norvegese in inverno porta con sé l’indubbio vantaggio di usufruire delle tariffe ridotte.

Sono comunque previsti sconti fino al 50% per alcune categorie di passeggeri, tra i quali gli anziani over 67, gli studenti e i bambini. In ogni caso, l’atmosfera a bordo dei battelli è di tipo informale e familiare, in quanto le navi trasportano, oltre ai turisti,  normali passeggeri  che utilizzano la nave come traghetto per spostarsi verso le destinazioni più remote, seguendo ad esempio un carico di merci piuttosto che per partecipare a un matrimonio.

Il paesaggio che scorre davanti agli occhi è stupefacente, in un susseguirsi di montagne, fiordi e arcipelaghi, ma l’emozione più forte la si prova oltrepassando la linea del circolo polare artico e Capo Nord. Si entra così nelle “terre delle luci”, con lo stupendo spettacolo del sole di mezzanotte in estate e l’aurora boreale in inverno.

Un’emozione indimenticabile, quella di un viaggio lungo un panorama costiero unico al mondo che si può vivere 365 giorni su 365, partendo da Bergen, la Capitale dei Fiordi, lungo i  2.000  km della costa norvegese fino all’estremo nord.

Norway can be explored 365 days a year on board ships sailing along the Atlantic Coast from Bergen to Kirkenes, at a few km from the Russian border. Following the mail route, which was inaugurated over a century ago, ships call at 34 ports with short or longer stops allowing passengers to visit both small fishing villages and famous resorts.

In some cases, sightseeing tours are organized by the shipping company itself and include the Art Nouveau town of Alesund and Trondheim on the bank of the Trondheim fjord with the typical houses facing the Nidelva river. Other famous destinations are the Lofoten Islands and Tromsø called the “Paris of the North” for its lively lifestyle or the “Gateway to the Arctic” to be a starting point for expeditions to the North Pole.

Ticket prices are obviously cheaper on a winter cruise and discounts up to 50% are granted to certain types of passengers such as people over the age of 67, children and students. In most cases it is possible to carry private vehicles on board the vessel.

Anyway, the atmosphere on the ships is informal, since not only tourists travel on the mail route, but also common people,  who have to reach remote destinations for example to deliver goods rather than attending a wedding,

The mail route discloses an extraordinary landscape, alternating mountains, fjords and archipelagos. The most significant point of the voyage is the line of the Arctic Circle and the North Cape, through which passengers enter the so-called “Land of the northern lights” with the wonderful sight of the Aurora Borealis in winter and the Midnight Sun in summer.

The Norway coastal voyage may be reasonably considered an unforgettable experience to take all year round, along the 2.000 km long coast from Bergen, the Capital of the Fjords up to the outmost North, deep into one of the most beautiful and unique sceneries in the world.

Die Postschiff-Kreuzfahrt nach Norwegen

365 Tage im Jahr kann man Norwegen mit dem Postshiff entdecken, das entlang der über 2.000 km lange Atlantikküste von Bergen bis nach Kirkenes an der russischen Grenze fährt. Die lange Route, die vor über einem Jahrhundert begann, ist heute  eine faszinierende Reise mit 34 Anlegenstellen, wo die Touristen berühmte Orte sowie kleine Fischdörfer besuchen können. In einigen Fällen werden die Ausflüge direkt von der Schifffahrtsgesellschaft organisiert.

Unter den berühmtesten Etappen sind die Städtchen Alesund im Art Nouveau Stil und Trondheim am Ufer des Trondheimsfjordes mit den typischen Gebäuden, die sich im Fluss Nivelda spiegeln. Auch die Lofoten- Inseln und Tromsø sind berühmte Ziele der Postschiff-Kreuzfahrt. Wegen ihres lebhaften Lebensstils wird Tromsø “Paris des Nordens” genannt und aufgrund ihrer Rolle als Abfahrtsstelle der Nordpol-Expeditionen ist die Stadt als das “Tor zur Arktis” bekannt.

Moderne und traditionelle Schiffe, die meistens die Verladung von privaten Fahrzeugen ermöglichen, können die Hin- und Rückfahrt  bzw. in  6 und 11 Tagen zurücklegen.

Eine Winterkreuzfahrt bringt den bestimmte Vorteil niedriger Preise mit sich. Auf jeden Fall sind Ermässigungen bis zu 50% für bestimmte Reisenden wie z. B. Studenten, Kinder und Personen ab 67 Jahre vorgesehen. An Bord ist die Atmosphäre informell, weil nicht nur Touristen, sondern auch einfache Leute das Postschiff nehmen, z.B. um an einer Hochzeit teilzunehmen oder Waren nach fernen Orten zu liefern.

Die Postschiffsreise entwickelt sich durch eine wunderbare Landschaft mit Bergen, Fjorden und Archipeln, aber die Überschreitung der  Polarkreislinie  ist ein spannendes Reisemoment.  Jenseits beginnt nämlich das sogenannte Land des Lichts mit der sonderbaren Sicht des Polarlichts im Winter und die Mitternachtssonne im Sommer. Die norwegische Küstereise ist zwar eine unvergessliche Erfahrung, derer Zauberei sich in einer der schönsten Blicke der Welt erweist.
